Not always purely visual. But aspects such as:

To me, design is the communication between people and their environment.
Someone who combines psychology and design views user behavior differently than a designer who focuses solely on design.
Someone who understands sales and system architecture builds solutions that an MBA consultant wouldn’t understand.
Whether it’s software development, training employees, or implementing new processes:
The best technology is useless if good design doesn’t guide the user.
The best employee is helpless if workflows aren’t designed logically.
The best process is useless if it isn’t scalable.
